THE LORD’S MY SHEPHERD (PSALM 23)
(Text by Joe Tyrpak; Traditional Tune)
Psalm 23:1-3a
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want.
He knows my needs and each supplies.
In pastures green, by waters calm
He gives me rest, and I’m revived.
Psalm 23:3b
He keeps me in the righteous way
And never will my soul forsake.
If I should turn and go astray,
He’ll bring me back—His name’s at stake.
Psalm 23:4
When death’s dark shadows veil my path,
I will not fear, for You are there.
Protected by Your rod and staff,
I’m safe within Your watchful care.
Psalm 23:5
A lavish banquet You have spread
Within the presence of my foes.
Your oil of joy anoints my head;
With richest wine my cup o’erflows.
Psalm 23:6
Unmingled good and loyal love
Will trace my steps through all my days,
Then I will dwell with You above
Delighting in Your endless grace.
John 10:11-31
The Shepherd Good cares for His sheep;
In love for us His life He gives.
Our lives in Him will never cease
For none can snatch us from His grip.
Hebrews 13:20; Revelation 7:17
Your glories fill our awestruck eyes:
Christ, You’re our Shepherd! You’re our Lamb!
Our Sov’reign Chief! Our Sacrifice!
We’re safe in mighty, nail-pierced hands.
