WHY DROWN IN HOPELESSNESS? (PSALM 42 & 43)
Words by Joe Tyrpak; Music by Lewis Edson
Tune name: LENOX
Psalm 42:1-5
As deer desire cool springs,
O living God, I long
For You to intervene;
Turn sorrow into song.
My soul, why drown in hopelessness?
Trust in your Savior’s promises.
Soon you will praise His faithfulness.
Psalm 42:6-10
Your tests, like crashing waves,
Throw me against the Rock.
Yet, doubts assail my faith;
I question, “Where is God?”
My soul, why drown in hopelessness?
Trust in your Savior’s promises.
Soon you will praise His faithfulness.
Psalm 43
O Refuge and Delight,
Defend me from my foes.
Shine truth into this night,
And lead me safely home.
My soul, why drown in hopelessness?
Trust in your Savior’s promises.
Soon you will praise His faithfulness.
John 14-16
My soul, heed Christ’s command:
“Take heart within the strife.
Believe in Me—I am
The way, the truth, the life.
Though tribulations will increase,
So will My comfort, joy, and peace,
Until I make all trials cease.”
