WISDOM HYMN (PROVERBS 9)

I heard the voice of Wisdom call,
Inviting me to dine;
She spread a lavish feast for all—
Her bread, her meats, her wine.
But then I heard Temptation’s voice
Enticing me to come;
She offered me another choice,
And sadly, I succumbed.

I filled myself with Folly’s food,
With things unfit for swine;
I had no taste for what was good,
But gorged on husks and rinds.
My secret sin brought open shame
From stolen drink and bread.
The promised joy was brief and vain;
Then sin left me for dead.

I heard the call of Heaven’s King
To come and feast with Him;
He gave and forgave everything—
His robes hid all my sin.
He welcomed me, despite myself,
And beckons more to come
To freely feast on Heaven’s wealth,
Obtained by Heaven’s Son.
