Jesus Never Sinned—Not Once!
We just released a brand new devotional for kids (available now to preorder)! Here is an excerpt from Day 10 by Bob and Sarah Roberts.
Read Hebrews 7:26
“He appeared in order to take away sins; and in him there is no sin.” (1 John 3:5)
Do you have brothers and sisters? Can you imagine if one of them was entirely without sin? If he was never selfish? Or she never got angry? Or lost her patience? Because Jesus never sinned, when someone did do something wrong in the house, there was no doubt: it wasn’t Jesus! If a cookie went missing before dinner, it wasn’t Jesus! If there was an unkind word, it wasn’t Jesus!
There was never a single time when Jesus gave in to temptation
Jesus never sinned when He was a child. Jesus never sinned when He was a teenager. Have you ever stopped to think about this? There was never a single time when Jesus gave in to temptation. Maybe His greatest temptation was after He hadn’t eaten for forty days and was physically weak. In Matthew 4, the Devil came to Jesus and tempted Him in three different ways. Do you remember them?
First of all, the Devil tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread so He could eat! But Jesus fought the Devil with a Bible verse: “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (v. 4).
Next, the devil tempted Jesus to throw Himself off the temple and force angels to save Him. This would demonstrate to thousands of people that He was the Son of God in a dramatic way. Jesus would be famous! But He still believed God’s Word and said no.
Finally, the devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if Jesus would simply bow down and worship Satan. But Jesus said no to this temptation and again quoted Scripture to Satan.
Only a sinless Savior could rescue us
How many times do you think you give in to temptation in a day? In a week? In a year? Isn’t it amazing to think about how Jesus never sinned in thirty years—not even once?! Only a sinless Savior could rescue us! Praise God for Jesus’ sinless life.
